Polly’s Place, located in Port Clinton, Ohio, is a transitional home dedicated to supporting women experiencing homelessness, particularly those facing mild mental health challenges or recovering from substance use. Operated by the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board in partnership with
Oak House, the program offers temporary housing along with structured support to help residents rebuild their lives.
The facility provides a safe, substance-free environment focused on equipping women with vital life skills such as budgeting, meal preparation, and job readiness. It serves as a critical stepping stone toward long-term stability and independence.
The home includes five bedrooms and, in certain cases, allows women to stay with their children. Most residents stay for up to six months, during which they receive individualized support tailored to their needs. Community involvement—through donations of supplies and resources—has been essential in sustaining the mission of Polly’s Place.
The overarching goal is to empower women with the tools and confidence needed for a fresh start. For more information or to apply, individuals are encouraged to contact the program directly.
